Hembridge Organics

Somerset, United Kingdom (UK)

Satisfy the foodie in you with Hembridge Organics delicious jams and chutneys

Hembridge Organics is an Artisan producer of 100% natural, organic, vegan and gluten free preserves. We give all the over ripe and ugly looking produce that would otherwise be abandoned a second chance and turn it into delicious jams and chutneys.

The business was set up by Kerry after the birth of her son, originally supplying organic vegetable boxes. Spotting that there was often a glut of fruit and vegetables, she decided to try her hand at preserves. Kerry runs the jam and chutney making business from her own kitchen and buys from certified organic producers across Somerset – importing only oranges for her marmalade. All of our preserves are certified by the Soil Association. You will find no nastiness in our preserves.

We have gone on to win national awards with the Soil Association in 2017 for our Plum and Brandy, 2019 overall category winner for our Raspberry Jam and a Great Taste Award for our Ale House Chutney. We hope you enjoy our Artisan preserves as much as we do.

We only use soil association certificated produce in our preserves. We do not use commercial pectin or any other additives just using organic sugar as a setting aid. Local organic cider vinegar is used in our savoury range making our whole range gluten free *(excluding alehouse chutney) and vegan friendly. We don’t believe in importing produce that is readily available on our doorstep. To that end we only import organic oranges for our marmalade.

100% organic and naturally get the very best taste

Being organic is important to me as I like to be able to read an ingredients label and know exactly what that ingredient is without having to have a degree in chemistry to decipher it. The Soil Association is an internationally recognized symbol which guarantees the organic provenance of our products and ingredients.

We care about the health of our environment

Our jars are made from recyclable glass and our labels are biodegradable and wood free. We also only ever use biodegradable, compostable or recycled packaging materials and tape to pack all our orders.

Founder of Hembridge Organics

I initially began Hembridge Organics from home as an internet box scheme supplying local customers with organic vegetables grown in Somerset, sourcing vegetables from five organic producers. I soon realised that the farmers would grow the same fruit and vegetables as each other resulting in a “glut” for the county. Fruit and vegetables that were either too large or too ripe to fill veg boxes were discarded. Hating waste, I realised that this produce was ideal for making chutneys and jams. At least the growers would get something for their efforts.

Avalon Vineyard

Avalon Vineyard

Situated on an historic vineyard with views over to Glastonbury Tor, Avalon vineyard is situated a mere 2 fields away from us. Traditionally a wine and cider maker Dr Hugh Tripp has been known to have the odd barrel of “vintage” cider vinegar tucked away. Our chutney and salsa includes this wonderfully mature vinegar. Two fields away, organic and going to waste. We would be silly not to.
